How do I contact Autolane quickly if I need to speak to someone?

You can reach us via call or text between Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm Central Time at (737) 377-0987. We will be expanding these customer support hours greatly over the next few months as we onboard more alpha users. You can also email us at ben@goautolane.com with any questions.

Who is responsible for my Tesla when it is doing errands autonomously?

This is a big question that Tesla will need to solve next year when fully-unsupervised FSD technology is released. It is expected that at some point Tesla itself will need to take full legal responsibility for your Tesla when it is driving itself with no people inside. However, this has not been confirmed and it is not yet clear how this will play out. Autolane's role in the errand process is simply to send navigation instructions and commands to your Tesla to ask it to go to the businesses you'd like it to (ie Home Depot). We do not have the ability to remotely control your car or impact it's decision-making. All that we can do is send it basic commands to enable it to complete errands for you. The basic commands we send to your Tesla on your behalf are: * Open and close trunk * Open and close frunk * Unlock and lock driver's side door * Send and receive navigation instructions * Navigate and drive to next destination * Telemetry requests (GPS coordinates, speed, drive state, battery charge level)

Is Autolane only available in Austin, Texas?

Yes, our alpha launch to a handful of Tesla owners is active only in Austin, Texas at the moment. We will be expanding coverage within Texas soon and then to other US states after that.

Can I send my Tesla to do errands for me at any business in Austin?

Currently, we only support businesses that offer explicit curbside pickup options. These are mostly large national or regional chains such as Walmart, Dominos, CVS, HEB, Home Depot, etc. We are working to onboard local small businesses in the Austin area as well so that you will be able to order from a plethora of businesses and send your Tesla to pickup the order via Autolane.

When will I be able to send my Tesla to do errands with no driver at all?

This depends on two things: FSD technology and regulatory approval. Technology: The upcoming release of the new FSD software that will enable unsupervised self-driving is expected as early as March 2025 and as late as December 2025. Regulation: Currently autonomous vehicles are regulated at the state level. Each state has its own rules and systems for allowing self-driving car technology. Texas, for example, does not have any regulation as it pertains to autonomous vehicles. However, the incoming federal administration has recently talked about creating federal regulation to allow autonomous vehicles to operate in all 50 states under one body of legislation.

How much does it cost to send my Tesla to do errands with Autolane?

If you own a Tesla, it is free for you to send your car with Autolane to do errands for you. It also does not cost the businesses anything to accept an Autolane service request.
